Today as I was cleaning house and rocking out to Feist (or shall we say chilling out), I had a knock at the door. I open the door to a couple who interviewed me a couple weeks ago. The lovely woman had flowers in her hands, and a gift bag. First thought was "all of this for letting you borrow a movie from my lending library?". Then a second later, I read what was written on the gift bag, which said, "Rachel, be my doula?". The sweet woman had tears in her eyes and a big smile on her face, I of course said YES! Inside the gift bag was a tree necklace with a bird and cage charm. She explained why she chose this necklace, and made me teary eyed. I hugged them several times, and told them how excited I was to work with them.

These guys made my day, month and possibly year! I am so excited to be apart of the birth of their rainbow baby this summer. My heart is full of love for them. This made me reflect on all of the hard work I've done these past 3 years, all of the lovely families I've served, and the growth that is to come for myself, and my business.

This husband and wife are exactly WHY I love this work. This journey is so special for them, so empowering, so life-changing. The fact that I will walk with them along this journey is the ultimate honor. I knew after I met them at our interview that I really liked them. The woman said everything that I normally say during an interview. There was awesome chemistry. Her vision of labor and birth was music to my ears.

This chemistry and connection will carry over to her birth and make it simply amazing.

Each client is special to me, they all teach me something, we connect on some level no matter what. I can't wait to see what this couple teaches me, I know it will be valuable.

Signed,

A very elated doula with a full heart - Rachel
